Rashonista is on the road this week. Right now I am in Washington, DC. Boy oh boy, talk about adhering to the “dress for success” manual. The colors of the day are blue, blue and blue. Hair is pulled back in buns or straight, no chaser. Maybe the ick of the current administration is rubbing off.

In any case, after a day of listening to keynote speakers pontificate, I was ready to do what I do best: shop. I did not do as much damage as I thought I would. Perhaps jet lag set in and saved my credit card.

I made my one and only purchase for this go round in the US (hopefully): a Cole Haan large convertible tote from the Paige collection.

Now, before you trip off the price, hear me out. I believe in quality, not quantity. Cole Haan is a darned good name. My mother has bags from this label that have lasted for years. Also, I am getting a little bit too long in the tooth to go with current fads.

Another point: I am slowly beginning to side with Kathryn on the holewhole (yikes) designer bag issue. Yes, I have a Louis Vuitton…that I swiped from my mom. I could not see myself paying over US$800 for a bag that can only hold an eyedropper. I have issues with having someone else’s initials plastered on my stuff anyway. It’s so…80s (bleeeeech).

This bag is not an “it” bag. It is a “me” bag. Keep that in mind if you are looking for a signature piece. Do not fall into the trap of looking at what Nicole, Paris, Jessica or whatever the current skinny minny is carrying (their dog in) this season.

There is a very strong chance that these women get their stuff for free anyway.

Note: It’s 14:45 and I’ve just read over this post, which I wrote last night. I was jetlagged and it shows. Will expound more (and more intelligently) on bags and such later.
