Nokia Eye on Fashion contest
If you live in India (at least I think it’s just for India) and you’re looking for a chance to use your snazzy Nokia cam phone, check out Nokia Eye on Fashion. Nokia is running a contest:
“Keep an eye out for fashion and capture it with your Nokia camera phone. From clothes to accessories, tattooes (sic) and personal style statements. Click anything you think is in vogue. Just share it with us and we’ll share it with the world.”
After snapping the pic, you can upload it to the Nokia site. According to Nokia, fashion designers and photographers will pick the best pic.
Up for grabs: still undercover “premium” Nokia handsets, creations from designer Ashish N Soni and Nokia “fashion phones.”
It’s all part of India Fashion Week.

Zurich ’streetstyle’
Heute is the free evening newspaper here in Zurich. I like it because I’m in too much of a hurry in the morning to read the 20min, the free morning paper. It also gives me a chance to see the town’s current styles in the “Streetstyle” section.
The Wednesday, 30 August edition put my teeth on edge. The subjects were two 13-year-old girls. Click the thumbnail to see a larger picture (then hit your brower’s back button to get back here). Now, maybe I’m getting old (or old-fashioned) but I have issues with some of the US styles that have infiltrated Europe. Check out the tilted baseball cap the young lady on the left is wearing. Yes, I know she’s only 13 and her wardrobe should be fun and “frolicky,” but something just isn’t right about that…shoot the entire outfit for that matter.
The young lady on the right disturbed me too. She’s carrying an allegedly CHF200 (US$167) Louis Vuitton. Thirteen-year-olds have no business carrying a CHF200 anything (fake or not…but I’m not going to go there about that).
So, what would I have them wear? Take a look at these selections from Asos.com. Since the young lady on the left likes hats, I suggest this captain hat . She could pair it with this “Beyonce inspired” slash neck puff sleeve top and the same leggings she’s wearing. I’d suggest flats instead of heels though. After all, she is 13.
As for her friend, I love this Miss Sixty denim skirt and top. It’s classy without being too mature for her age.
What would you suggest?
By the way, the first edition of The Rashonista Update will be out Monday. Go here to sign up.
